Kāpuia is Te Wānanga o Aotearoa's Graduate Community

The name Kāpuia comes from a proverb by the late second Māori King. Kīngi Tāwhiao which says: “ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati, ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati” meaning “when reeds stand alone, they are vulnerable, but bound together they are unbreakable

This tongi promotes ideas such as unity, camaraderie and strength, ideals that align with the underpinning values of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.  The over-arching aim of Kapuia is to allow our graduates to enhance the relationships they forged while they studied with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and further support their future endeavours.

Some of the services that we’ll look to provide in the future include:
an online social network, mentoring forums such as conferences and guest speakers, scholarships, merchandise, and publications to recognise the amazing contributions of consequence that our graduates are making in their communities.

"There are lots of opportunities available for our graduates and I'm excited to be a part of this journey".

Awhimai Huka, National Kāpuia Coordinator - Te Wānanga o Aotearoa
