The service we provide most often involves a referral to an appropriate support provider and is confidential. Please contact your local Student Support Team for more assistance.

Safe sexual practice

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation provide a good resource on HIV and related illness and a practical guide on Safe Sex practices.

Free Counselling

The LifeLine New Zealand LifeLine service is free and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All calls are confidential and non-judgemental. Call 0800 543 354 visit their website for more information.

Suicide Help

- Having Suicidal Thoughts? Information for you, and for your family, whanau, friends and support network from the Ministry of Health.

- The University of Otago offers a number of good suggestions on helping someone who might be at risk, however, in the case of emergency you should call the police on 111.

Rape or Sexual Abuse

The Auckland Rape Crisis website covers a wide suite of topics including current listings for regional crisis centres.

Relationship Services offers counselling and relationship support. 

Alcohol and Drug abuse

- Alcohol and drug addiction can cause problems for you, your friends, your colleagues, your family and your employees. Care NZ supports and guides treatment and counselling for alcoholism and drug abuse. Alcohol drug helpline 0800 787 797.

- You can also get contact details for your local alcohol and other drug counsellor or treatment provider by calling the helpline or by visiting: www.addictionshelp.org.nz.

This is a Ministry of Health site about primary healthcare in New Zealand. Here you can find information on how to access and choose healthcare services and how to take charge of your own health and the health of your whanau.

Māori Health

This site provides information about Māori health and highlights the policies, courses and people who are significant providers of health and disability services to Māori. There is also an overview of the Māori Health Directorate, information on policies and courses, statistics, and publications.

Ministry of Health

This is the main site of the MOH. It provides a wealth of information on health and wellbeing issues affecting the peoples of New Zealand and the Pacific.
