Whether you’re in business or are just starting one, this programme will give you the skills and knowledge to build a successful business.

The Certificate in Small Business and Project Management is a comprehensive programme that teaches you everything you need to start and run a business – from marketing, business planning and customer service, right through to accounting and project management.

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will receive the following qualifications:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Business (Small Business) (Level 4)
  • New Zealand Certificate in Project Management (Level 4)

You'll learn about:

  • project planning, review and presentation
  • business planning and operation
  • accounting and finance
  • marketing and research
  • staff management and teamwork
  • sales and customer service.

You'll know how to:

  • create your own business plan
  • manage a project from start to finish
  • analyse customers and competitors

You'll graduate with NZQA-approved qualifications to show your skills and knowledge to run your own business and manage a project within a business setting.

How you'll study:

This is a full-time programme that consists of 120 credits delivered over 36 weeks. Throughout the programme you will be required to attend:

  • 1 x 3-hour class per week
  • Workshops - as per delivery schedule (2 hours per week)
  • 1 x 6-hour wānanga
  • Activity directed learning (9-10 hours per week)

It is important to note that additional learning (approximately 18-19 hours per week) will also need to be completed outside of class time.

Workload: For each credit, allow about 10 hours of study. This may be higher at certain times throughout the programme.

In some locations this programme may be provided by way of an approved sub-contract arrangement.
