Do you want a career in fitness? Are you keen to make fitness and wellbeing a part of your life? Our fitness course gives you a basic introduction to the fitness industry. As well as learning how to manage your own fitness, you'll also earn NCEA Level 2 at the same time.


You'll learn about:

  • personal fitness
  • health and nutrition
  • using gym equipment correctly and safely
  • coaching/leadership
  • improving your literacy and numeracy skills.

You'll know how to:

  • manage your personal fitness
  • discuss the connection between nutrition and health
  • understand the health and fitness industry
  • work with customers/clients
  • present yourself well to prospective employers.

Where will this take me:

You'll be ready to move into higher-level study in health, fitness and sports leadership.

With skills at this level you could apply for entry level jobs in gyms, coaching, and community or school sports.


How you'll study:

This is a full-time programme. You need to be committed to (on average):

  • in class on weekdays

  • workshops
  • working in groups and class discussions
  • extra study and activities that you decide will help your learning. (These may differ from class-to-class.)
