The unique and popular television renovation show Marae DIY is back and this time Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is on the road with the team, working with whānau around the motu on some special marae renovations.

The show is 12 years old this year and we couldn't be prouder to be part of this inspirational programme which brings joy to so many.

Our marae are special places but many iwi face challenges maintaining these cultural treasures and ensuring they continue to be places the entire community can be proud of for many years to come.

Over four days, Marae DIY provides the perfect opportunity for whānau to re-connect with their marae, embrace their community and work together for the future benefit of all.

Episode 1 - Te Kōpua Marae (Whaingaroa)

Te Kōpua is a marae with a difference and an important place in the history of Aotearoa. There were plenty of challenges for the team in this stage restoration project on the shores of Raglan Harbour.

Episode 2 - Ohine Waiapu Marae (Rangitukia)

With the Ohine Waiapu whānau set to mark their 150 year celebrations, the whānau and community came together on this massive project with spectacular results.

Episode 3 - Pahaoa Marae

It’s appropriate the New Zealand Defence Force lends as hand to this marae makeover, with Pahaoa having a rich history of warriors.
