Feel like your finances are out of control? Want to change that? Managing your money has never been easier.

This programme has been designed to give you the insight and tools you need to manage your personal finances. Challenge your thinking about money and how that influences your money behaviours. Then get the tools to plan for your future, save, and manage your budget.

Learn from home with amazing resources and regular visits from a kaitiaki (support person).

When you pass this programme, you'll get this qualification:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Personal Financial Capability Level 2

You’ll learn about:

  • setting goals and budgeting
  • managing income
  • spending
  • managing debt
  • saving and investing
  • creating wealth and protecting assets.

Where will this take me?

I want to keep studying

With your increased knowledge in financial management, you could enrol on our Certificate in Money Management Level 3.

I want to use my qualification

You'll have the awareness and financial capability to take on an entry-level financial services or administrative job.

How you'll study:

This is a part-time programme that consists of 60 credits delivered over 9 months.

Throughout the programme you will be required to complete set activities each week from home. These activities will take approximately 17 hours of learning per week.

Some of the learning activities will need to be completed online. You'll need access to an internet connected device to complete some learning activities.

In some locations this programme might be provided by an approved sub-contract arrangement.

Entry criteria:

To enrol in this programme, a potential student must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be a New Zealand citizen (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident.

This programme is open to:

  • anyone who doesn't have a qualification higher than level 1
  • some people with a higher qualification (please enquire).
