Ka kāpuia ngā ihu puta ki te keokeo o ngā wawata”
Our graduates will gather upon the pinnacle of their aspirations.
Our Graduate Community is taking shape. In the coming months, you will start to see and hear changes in what promises to be an exciting and fresh initiative focused on bringing our graduates together to achieve success.
- Connect with us.
In the coming months, we will develop our social media presence, including Facebook and LinkedIn, so you can join, share and keep in touch with your fellow graduates.
- Connect with others.
As we develop further, we’ll look to initiate, support and encourage gatherings of like-minded graduates. These kaupapa-based hui, workshops, events or virtual communities will give graduates a chance to network, learn and get involved. We will also be creating opportunities for graduates to volunteer and intern alongside us to bring Te Wānanga o Aotearoa to the world.
- Connect with opportunity.
Over the coming months we will unveil a range of new and exciting opportunities. The opportunities will be based on increasing your skills and supporting your journey.
Kāpuia was officially launched on 30 September 2010 at the Novotel Tainui Hotel in Hamilton. Kāpuia as a philosophy utilises a tongikura by Tāwhiao which promotes ideas of unity, camaraderie, and strength. These ideals align with the underpinning values of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Ki te kotahi te kākaho, ka whati, ki te Kāpuia, e kore e whati
When reeds stand alone they are vulnerable, but bound together they are unbreakable.
In 2015 the decision was made to reinvigorate the Kāpuia space. This led to the appointment of a National Kāpuia Coordinator who was tasked with establishing the strategic direction for the programme in the first instance.
In considering our history, we must acknowledge the work done by those who have established and carried this kaupapa previously
Koutou kua whakapau werawera, kua whakapau kaha mō tēnei kaupapa whakahirahira ngā mihi nui kia koutou.
2016 represents Te Wānanga o Aotearoa once again reaching out to its wider whānau. Our kaupapa will be built upon creating opportunities for graduates to connect with each other and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa in ways that are new and exciting.
