Project management expert Erana Matene invites kaimahi wanting to develop work-related initiatives to contact her.

Erana started with the wānanga in August as the new Pou Kaupapa Whānui Subject Matter Expert – Project Portfolio.

“Project management is my passion and I am very excited to be a part of this amazing wānanga whānau,” says Erana.

Her role involves overseeing the planning, tracking and performance of wānanga projects.

“I am also charged with ensuring these projects are contributing to the achievement of the strategic objectives and follow best practice and consistent project management methodology.”

Erana is carrying out research to determine how the organisation as a whole conducts the management of its projects.

She will review the findings of her research in the next few months to determine how future wānanga projects will be carried out.

Erana is based at Te Puna Mātauranga in the Te Karumārama Project Management Office.

Erana says Te Karumārama supports strategic decision-making through research, policy analysis, provision of management information and analysis of statistical data.

“The wāhanga is the custodian of organisational strategy and provides support and advice in the development and preparation of key organisational documents for dissemination to internal and external stakeholders.”

Her previous employment was with Fonterra as a project consultant.

Erana lives in Hamilton and is of Tuhoe and Ngāpuhi descent.
