Starting your study journey can feel like a big step, especially if you haven't studied for a while. From applying to getting ready for your first class, our team is here to help.

Explore what interests you

Look through our programmes and choose a study option that works best for you.

Check times and locations

Each programme has its own class schedule and study format. Consider how the programme you're interested in supports your goals and fits the life you want to create.

Your commitments and values

Study takes time and energy. Make sure you’re ready to commit to the mahi. If you’re unsure what this might look like, our team can help you plan and prepare.

Understand costs and support

Most of our programmes have no fees, but some do. If you need financial help, there are options available.

Gather your documents

If this is your first time studying with us, you’ll need to have some key documents ready – proof of identity, residency, and any previous study or qualifications.

If you have an NSN (National Student Number), keep this handy for when you apply. Having these on hand will make the process quick and easy.

Start your application

You can apply online at any time.

If you need help filling out your application form, our team can walk you through it:

Meet entry requirements

Some programmes have specific entry criteria, such as previous experience, portfolios, assessments, or interviews.

If that applies to your programme, we’ll let you know what’s needed and help you get sorted.

Provisional enrolment

Once your application is submitted and all entry criteria is met, you’ll receive a provisional enrolment notification.

This means your place in the class is held for you.

Confirmed enrolment

When your class is approved to run, your enrolment will be updated from provisional to current.

There may be a wait for this update, so thanks for your patience - it's all part of the process.

Get ready to begin

Once you are a current tauira, you’ll receive your class details, tauira number, learning management system login (if applicable), and next steps from your kaiako or kaitiaki.

Class starts

You'll be set to start your learning journey with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. To make sure you have the support you need, our student support advisors are here to help.

Navigating changes

We know things can change along the way. Whether you need to switch classes, locations or times, change programmes, update your details, withdraw, or get extra support, help is available.
