Our local story
Kōtahi anō te kōhao o te ngira, e kuhuna ai te miro mā, te miro whero, me te miro pango.
There is but one eye of the needle through which the white, red and black threads must pass.
These words were spoken by the first Māori King, Pōtatau Te Wherowhero, to his son, who would later succeed him as Kīngi Tāwhiao.
For us at Te Ngira, this kōrero reminds us that every tauira and kaimahi brings their own unique thread to the whāriki of learning. Together, those threads create something stronger — a woven expression of achievement, belonging, and purpose.
Set just below the Wainuiomata Hill in Waiwhetu, Te Ngira is a warm and welcoming space for our community. Our campus has five spacious classrooms and sits on a main bus route connecting you to both Wainuiomata and Lower Hutt Central.
For those driving, there are 50 free carparks available for both tauira and kaimahi at the rear of the building.
