Our local story
Tucked among the busy streets of Henderson in West Auckland, you will find Te Kura o Waitākere. This campus may look modest from the outside, but inside you’ll find the vibrant, down-to-earth spirit that “Westies” are proud of. For many tauira, this campus feels like a home away from home.
The campus is based in the former Mitsubishi Motors building, a place well known in the local community. Though smaller than our Māngere site, its heart is just as big. Henderson’s diverse and fast-growing population is reflected in the warmth and cultural mix of our kaimahi and tauira.
At Te Kura o Waitākere, creativity flourishes in a space where traditional knowledge meets contemporary ideas. Local kura also use our spaces, supporting their students to gain NCEA credits in a practical and inspiring environment.
