Are you are sick of being a sucker, keen to kick the smoking habit and win cash?

Ka mau te wehi! Because WERO a fun, competitive and exciting initiative to begin your auahi kore journey is now on offer at the wānanga.

Teams have to be registered quick smart though with a Monday July 6 competition start date.

Cash prizes for charitable trusts of choice – or even Mata Wananga kapa haka teams - include two chances of winning $500 and an ultimate prize purse of $3000.

There will also be spot prizes throughout the three-month competition.

The WERO challenge involves teams of six WERO warriors who have made the life changing call to be auahi kore.

Teams will be given a virtual waka, which they have to name before setting sail on a their 12 week cyber space race.

WERO mentors will visit the teams for CO2 testing - a breath test to measure carbon in oxygen - each week.

Results from these tests will determine how far forward your waka moves in the online race.

If a 4 and under is registered in the breath test your waka will surge ahead.

The first CO2 readings will be taken July 10.

WERO mentors will have on hand NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) supplies - gum, lozenges and patches and offer group and individual consultations for support.

TWoA and WERO have joined forces to host the inter-wānanga auahi kore competition for kaimahi and whānau members.
