Terms and Conditions | Fee Payment

Last updated: September 2026

Payment due date

Tuition fees are due within 30 days of the programme start date.

Payment options

  1. Payment in full

    The full programme fee is paid in a single payment via bank transfer or credit card.

  2. Student Loan (StudyLink)

    The full programme fee is paid via StudyLink on your behalf.

    By selecting StudyLink as your payment method, you acknowledge that confirming eligibility is your responsibility.

    If your StudyLink application is declined, or if you or your selected programme is ineligible for funding for any reason, you remain liable for payment of all programme fees by the applicable due date.

    If your StudyLink application is declined after the early withdrawal period, you will remain liable for the full programme fee.

  3. Payment by Instalment (Payment Plan)

    A Payment Plan allows current-year programme fees to be repaid over time.

    A Payment Plan:

    • consists of eight equal fortnightly instalments;

    • commences 14 days after the programme start date;

    • is collected through automatic payments, set up by the tauira;

    • is not available with alternative payment frequencies, different numbers of instalments, or customised repayment arrangements.

    Tauira are responsible for ensuring fees are paid on time and for maintaining any agreed payment arrangements. Failure to maintain an agreed Payment Plan may result in the debt being managed through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa outstanding fees and debt recovery process.

Selection of payment options

Once tauira have selected their preferred payment option and submitted their online enrolment application, they cannot change their payment method. We may approve a change in exceptional circumstances.

Withdrawal and refund

Tuition fees are non-refundable, except where withdrawal from the programme takes place before the applicable early withdrawal cut-off date specified below.

If withdrawal occurs after the applicable early withdrawal cut-off date, no refund of fees paid will be available and the tauira will remain liable for any outstanding fees.

Outstanding fees and debt recovery

If programme fees remain unpaid, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa may take the following recovery steps:

  • 31–90 days: Overdue fee notice issued

  • 91–99 days: Debt collection process begins

  • 100+ days: Debt with collection agency

Unpaid fees may be referred to an external debt collection agency. Referral may affect the tauira's ability to study or graduate.

Non-payment and late payments

Tohu (certificates) and results will be withheld if the tauira has any fees outstanding. Tauira will also be unable to participate in any graduation ceremony.

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa reserves the right to withhold acceptance of your enrolment to its programmes, for failure to pay fees.
