Programme overview:

Do you want a career with the Police? Not sure if you've got what it takes? Get rid of the anxiety and unknown by preparing for the specific requirements of the Police recruitment process.

You'll learn from the experts exactly what the testing and recruitment process involves. You'll be able to make sure your literacy, numeracy and fitness levels are up to the required standards.

We'll give you the push, support and confidence you need to cross the line!

When you pass this programme, you'll get this qualification:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3)
  • New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4)

You'll learn about:

  • preparing an application for the NZ Police recruitment phase
  • passing the Physical Appraisal Test
  • developing a study plan to build a career pathway
  • using research skills
  • working effectively as an individual and as a team member.

I want to use my qualification

You'll be ready to complete the Police entry assessment. You'll also be prepared to apply to the Armed Services, Corrections, Customs and more.


How you'll study:

This is a full-time programme that consists of 120 credits, taught over 36 weeks.

In Semester A you'll be required to attend:

  • compulsory tutorials (approximately 23 hours per week)

It is important to note that activity-directed learning (approximately 10-11 hours per week) will also need to be completed outside of class time.

In Semester B you'll be required to attend:

  • compulsory tutorials ( approximately 10 hours per week)

It is important to note that activity-directed learning (approximately 24 hours per week) will also need to be completed outside of class time.


Entry criteria:

To enrol in this programme, a potential student must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be a New Zealand citizen (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident
  • attend an interview
  • be aware of the entry requirements into the NZ Police.

The 2020 fees for these certificates are:

Level 3: $1,089.82

Level 4: $1,089.82
