Te reo Māori connects us – to each other, to our stories, and to the world around us. In this programme, you’ll refine your reo, deepen your understanding of te ao Māori, and explore how language keeps our culture alive.
You’ll build your capability, confidence, and purpose while you practise speaking in a range of settings, learn to express ideas with more detail and fluency, and explore how your reo can uplift others.
This programme focuses on confidence, connection, and leadership, empowering you to use te reo Māori more naturally. As your fluency grows, you’ll be ready to take your reo beyond the classroom and into your community.

Entry criteria
You can enrol if you:
Are 16 years or older
Are a NZ citizen or resident (includes Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau) or Australian citizen/permanent resident
Currently reside in New Zealand
Have graduated from Te Pūtaketanga o te Reo Level 3 after 2027 OR
Can demonstrate equivalent Level 3 skills and knowledge in te reo Māori through a pre-entry assessment

Full-time
60 credits
20 weeks long (includes holiday breaks)
Classroom-based, with workshops and noho marae
There are two different delivery methods for this programme.
The classroom delivery method has 2 regular classes during the week supported by one intensive noho (intensive workshop).
The noho delivery method has one regular class during the week supported by 4 noho (intensive workshops). These often run over the weekend.
