You’ll need to have access to a: 

• A computer or laptop 

• A reliable internet connection

You’ll explore the principle of Toi Raupapa, building understanding of kawa, tikanga and studio management in your chosen kaupapa toi.

You’ll keep a journal to document ideas, techniques and concepts as they emerge.

You’ll explore your personal identity and whakapapa in relation to your creative practice. You’ll investigate the origins and development of a chosen creative work or artist to understand cultural, historical and stylistic influences. You’ll use creative expression and short reflections to record what you find.

You’ll examine the elements and stages of the creative process and plan a toi project. You’ll identify sources of inspiration—pūrākau, waiata, mana whenua and personal histories—to guide your direction. You’ll produce a supervised project plan that maps a clear process for making your work.

You’ll bring ideas, skills and techniques together to create a finished work. You’ll apply your project plan while demonstrating kawa, tikanga and sound studio practices. You’ll reflect on your process to show how your experiences shape your understanding of mahi toi.
